AppAudit 0.5.5-beta
beta
July 31, 2026 • Build 24
Summary
This release adds the new Launch Dashboard, improves first-scan discoverability, clarifies manual-versus-live permission review, adds a built-in reset-to-first-launch tool, and tightens the Free versus licensed update path.
- New Launch Dashboard: AppAudit now opens with a clearer launch hub for new and returning users, making it easier to review terms, check permissions, jump into a tour, return to the most recent scan, or start scanning right away.
- Better first-scan clarity:
Scan Applicationsis now more visible in both the Launch Dashboard and Home, helping users reach AppAudit’s core audit workflow faster. - Smarter legal and scan flow: AppAudit now blocks scan entry more clearly until the current terms have been accepted, then routes users back into the right next step instead of letting early setup feel fragmented.
- More honest permissions guidance: the System Permissions screen now distinguishes live best-effort checks from settings that still need manual review, which makes broader macOS privacy guidance less confusing.
- Easier reset and retesting: Help now includes
Reset AppAudit to First-Launch State…, making it much easier to re-test onboarding or return AppAudit to a near-fresh local state without manually clearing every app-owned setting. - Clearer manual updates: the update checker now gives Free users a clearer public re-download path while keeping licensed update requests separate, private, and user initiated.
- Better small-window resilience: compact-window messaging and panel behavior have been refined so AppAudit stays more understandable on tighter displays and during repeated resizing.
Note: AppAudit users not using a Pro license should re-download the free version here.
